When you enter the Lumbar Nook and dig into the broken bone, you have to wait for about 5-10 minutes for the alarm to go off, and you can't do anything else until it rings. However, if you press ABXYLRYXBA in the exact order, the alarm goes off instantly, regardless of how much time it's been.
