Advanced trick moves
There are also four basic trick moves that are not listed below that can be performed by pressing one of the turbo buttons and [Square].

To perform these dunks, hold any of the turbo buttons, then press [Circle].
To get an easy basket, pump fake, and the CPU should jump. While he is jumping, drive in for a dunk.
Look at the circle under the player's feet when you have the ball. When a circle inside the circle under the players feet turns green, shoot the ball and you will make it in 99% of the time. It can be any shot but a jam.
Whenever you are facing another team, make sure you have a shooter. Then (if you are in or out of the key), try to make your player shoot as if he shot the ball from over his head. After you shoot, 98% of the time it will go in.
After the opposing team scores, inbound the ball, and pass it to your teammate who is breaking from about half-court. Do a trick move (Slip n' Slide or Reel2reel recommended), fake the opponent out, and do a Dinner's Served ([R1] + [R2] + [L1] + [L2] while around the freethrow line). This works most of the time. The opponent will sometimes back away or strip you, but if done correctly, you will get a point, and 18,000 trick points.
Easy steals
To steal the ball easily, wait until you score. After that, the CPU passes it in. Go to the right side of the player that is getting the ball passed to him. When the CPU passes it in, try to steal.
Easy blocks
The best shotblockers are athletic tall players, such as Alonzo Mourning or Takashi. If you get those players, you will probably block every shot made.
Choose a team such as the Lakers. Once you score, send Shaq directly in front of the opposing hoop. Once they shoot, jump by pressing [Triangle]. This also works well with Takashi and Yeti Snowman.
When you complete the City Circuit and can choose a new player, if you want a high block accuracy select the Yeti Snowman. He can make about 99% of your blocks.
Easy trick points
When heading toward the basket on a breakaway, hold [L1] + [L2] + [R1] + [R2] and press [Square]. You should pull off an advanced trick move. While still holding [L1] + [L2] + [R1] + [R2], switch from [Square] to [Circle]. You should pull off the "Dinners Served". That two move combo will result in 18,000 trick points.
Use the following trick to do an Easy Hook-Up Alley-Oop. When receiving the ball after the other team scores (this can also be done if you get the ball from a block or steal made by you), run to the other side of the court holding only two or three turbo buttons (optionally, you can do an advanced trick move on your way but this will slow you down and decrease your chances). You will see one of your players also rushing to give you a chance for an alley-oop. By the time he or she jumps up, you should be in mid-air with your dunk. Very quickly pass to him or her for an Easy Hook-Up Alley-Oop, which instantly gives you 20,000 trick points (23,000 if you did an advance trick move with it). Note: This does not work all the time, requires a lot of skill, and requires the two players to have very good dunk stats.
Easy Hold The Court win
At the main menu, go to "Hold The Court" mode and press [Start] for both player one and player two. Do not enter a User ID for player two. Choose a team for yourself and for the second player. Choose your players and start the game. Player two will not score or move. When they get the ball, go up to them and steal it. This helps to win the Hold The Court mode, for a quick win, or to get a lot of trick points.
Play one game in the first region
Choose either the Toronto Raptors or the Vancouver Grizzlies and you will only play one game for the first region. This also speeds up your season.
Avoid losing the ball
Do not try advanced trick moves such as Slip and Slides with large players such as Biggs, Shaq O' Neal, or Alonzo Mourning. They will often lose the ball at the end of the move.
Stopping Gamebreakers
If the other team has a Gamebreaker and you have the ball, go to the other team's side of the court. Dribble and do not let the other team get the ball. When the shot clock is approaching zero, Shoot the ball from full court. Then, get the rebound and repeat. The other team's Gamebreaker will run out and you will have the ball.
Easy Gamebreaker shot
During a game, get a Gamebreaker after getting alot of trick points. Drive down the court with the ball, being careful not to get it stolen from you. When you get outside of the three point line, let your defender get directly in front of you with his legs apart. This trick will only work if his legs are apart. Next, press [Square] and you should do a Left Behind move. This move takes the ball that goes under the defender's legs then pulls it back, leaving the defender clueless. After the ball is pulled back, there will be nobody to block the shot for awhile; you can just press your [Turbos] and shoot.
